Motivation & Intention

Understanding Yourself and Your Life Events

We are the generation of the quick fix, where it is easier to reach for a pill than investigate and fix whatever is causing our problems.

That is fine if you merely want to tweak something in your life.

But sometimes, we are pushed from within so intensely that we have no option but to take a good look at ourselves and our life in order to settle this strong emotion. Then we begin an earnest search for our answers.

Or we may want something, but aren’t sure how to go about getting it, so we kind of sit on the fence and have a hard time pushing ourselves to get up and do it. This is the hardest group to motivate. At the end of this section is an exercise to help if you are in this group.

Other times we want something enough to decide most firmly that we have to have it. There is no other way. This intent is one of the strongest motivators for success.

Our motivation and intention are what drives our success. Without them we will sit and do nothing except feel miserable.

Janet’s books come from an inspirational and motivational point of view and will guide you through a set of gentle steps, so you don’t have to worry about being pushed too fast, or having to figure it out for yourself.

Get a pen and paper because you are going to write about your life.

Write the story, being honest, specific and detailed about every circumstance of your current life. Grasp an honest picture of your life right now. For example, living in an often uncomfortable and messy home. Use the following topics as a guide.

Where do you live, who lives there with you, what is it like, what work do you undertake, what is your financial situation, hobbies, health, personal relationships, health, happiness, activities, family, self-care, how your time is spent, things you wish to do but don’t, friends/social activities, education, how you feel/your state of mind, your personal work, organization, your place in the world, how you feel about you. Include every category imaginable.

When you have finished take a break and when you come back, find a comfortable chair and some quiet to contemplate this picture before you. Listen to what you feel as you read. Then ask yourself “is this what I want?”

What you are aiming for is to feel uncomfortable about the life you have been happy to keep until now, and then you can make a judgment, a decision that you want something more, something better for yourself, and you have to have it.

Read the pages of this website to get you thinking and remember, you CAN have anything. IF you want it!
